The Weather

It appears that the weather is insane wherever you go. The good ole motto here is “if you don’t like the weather wait an hour, it’ll change”. That was what it did yesterday. J and I spent the afternoon at the park yesterday without coats on and it was wonderful. We picked L up from school and played outside a bit, then around 2:30 it started getting SO windy. I still have debris in my tree outside. Then the biggest snowflakes started to fall, it was beautiful.

I went last night and had my picture taken with the kids, my hubby, my mom and my brother and it was like 18 degrees outside with 40 mile winds. It was AWFUL. At one point I was walking to the car with the kids and my bag, the wind was blowing so hard that I had to hold J’s hat on with my teeth and run to the car cause neither of them were breathing right because it was that cold and windy. CRAZY!!!

Now tomorrow’s forecast reads as this: “Winter storm watches are now posted for much of Missouri and Illinois for Thursday into Thursday night. Snow should develop after lunchtime in St. Louis Thursday and could become heavy at times Thursday night.
The heaviest snow will most likely fall just south and east of St. Louis. Most areas will see 4-8 inches of accumulation. The possibility also exists for thunder with the snow Thursday evening which could result in locally higher accumulations.”

This is so funny to me because I live in the metro area “the city” and we never get snow like they are talking about here. We only dream about it. So we’ll see. But, it’s big news, all they seem to be able to talk about. I’ll keep you updated because I know all of you care about the weather in STL 🙂

Works for Me Wednesday – Disney Mom’s Panel

mickey-mouse.jpg   Oooh this is a cool one I just discovered. It’s only for those that are planning or thinking about planning a trip to Disney World. Check out the new Mom’s Panel on the Disney World website. It’s awesome. They answer all kinds of questions… for instance I asked them about the difficulty of getting a stroller onto the different types of transportation. They answered right away. Pretty cool. So if you are planning a trip check it out.

For those of you that don’t know me I am always prepared and right now I have dived deeply into planning our trip with two toddlers. So I am always taking suggestions on how to make it memorable and fun.

Check out everyone else’s helpful tips at Rocks in My Dryer.

My Quiz Results

I took a quiz my cousin had on her blog at 3inunder3 and here are my results:

What American accent do you have?

Your Result: The Midland

“You have a Midland accent” is just another way of saying “you don’t have an accent.” You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Philadelphia
The Inland North
The South
The Northeast
The West
Boston
North Central

So I have my list of things I want to get before Disney World. I am getting excited. But my list consists of an Overland Equipment Donner bag in lime green or blue (I’m not really picky), it would be nice to not have to carry a huge diaper bag. Rolling suitcases for my children. I am having trouble finding those for the price I want to pay. I want a princess one for L and a cars or mickey one for J. A camera is at top of my list. I really want to get the Sony Cybershot DSC-W90, I’ve researched it and I believe this is the one I want. Then the last thing was a new stroller because my double stroller seems so big sometimes, especially to steer around tight areas. So I wanted a sit and stand stroller and guess what I got today, THIS!! I couldn’t be more excited than if I brought home a new camera. I have a new toy to play with. Do I need all of these things in order to have a good time at Disney World, no absolutely not. But, it’s just a list of things that would be nice to have. A girl can dream can’t she.

To vote or not to vote

I swear to never talk politics on my blog… this is all I have to say on the topic.

Of course I will vote but sometimes it seems like I am the only one who has a clear view of who needs to be president. Doesn’t the whole world revolve around me? 🙂 Just kidding. We just had the Barack Obama supporters ring our bell. That’s fine, I don’t care, they can all knock on my door and I will listen. JT listened, he doesn’t know who he’s going to vote for yet. I won’t tell you who I will vote for or not vote for but sometimes you just wonder who’s voting out there and who isn’t. Example: I voted for John Kerry last year. That didn’t seem to make a difference, but I will vote again this year and pray we aren’t as stupid as last time. One last thought: I wholeheartedly believe in separation of church and state, I’ll end it there.

Remember my opinion doesn’t count for much… just one vote.

Tagged I’m it!!

My cousin over at 3inunder3 tagged me with a meme and I could use a lift and something fun to talk about right about now so here you go.

How long have you been a mom? 3 years 9 months

How many children call you Mommy? 2

Girl? Boy? or both?: Both – oldest a girl and youngest a boy

Did you know what you were having? Of course, I can’t stand surprises. I knew both times.

How old were you when you became a Mom? I was 28, 29 just 7 days later

How long were you in labor? With L my water broke on Easter afternoon at 6:30 pm, we hadn’t packed for the hospital and JT had been working outside so he had to shower, so we arrived at hospital at 8:00, received an epidural at 5cm and the anesthesiologist that did it put it in wrong and I started to not be able to see and get dizzy, they quickly pulled that one out and readministered another one, I pushed for 15 minutes and she was born at 1:38 am (easy, no big deal) 7 hours total.

J was a bit different I woke up around 4:00 am because of contractions, called the dr. he told me to head in, called mom and waited for her to arrive, drove to the hospital, the whole time I wouldn’t tell JT just how bad the contractions were because I didn’t want him to have an accident. He ride took about 20 minutes, when we pulled into the parking lot I told JT that I couldn’t walk so he ran and got a wheelchair. When he came back I was on my hands and knees in the parking lot, it was so funny I am sure to see me and JT running at me with a wheelchair. (I am giggling just thinking about it) we got inside and they kept JT for all the info and got me into a room, JT came in I told them to check me I was 9 1/2 cm, they got me an epidural, didn’t take in time and had J at 6:27 am. Exactly 2 1/2 hours, when JT called my mom she thought it was because we forgot something… oh no… your grandson is here!!

What’s your favorite thing about being a mom? How much love we all have for each other, how they cuddle with me when they are hurt or tired.

What’s your least favorite thing about being a mom? how stressed out I get because of them fighting or just whenever I am tired

Do you want more kids? No. We are done.

When will you have more? Never.

Have your kids ever peed on you? Yes, they both have.

Have you ever been thrown up on? Yes, I have, everytime L gets sick. We are working on correct projection.

Are your kids named after anyone? L my grandma’s middle name and J has a family name for a middle name on JT’s side.

How did you come up with the names? L’s is a flower, gee wonder what it is :-)?! Because my name is a flower, my mom’s is a flower and my aunts are flowers. If I ever had another girl (check above, won’t happen) it would be Violet, see a trend?! J’s name we just liked a lot. We like traditional names.

When it comes to discipline, who’s the bad guy? I’m always the bad guy.

What’s the longest you’ve been away from the kids? 3 days we went to Chicago for my 30th birthday. I barely made it.

What’s your bedtime routine? Bath every other night, jammies, books, fans on, night lights on and their lullaby cds.

Are your toes painted? Just barely. I don’t worry about it in the winter.

What was the last movie you saw in the theater? Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

What won’t you give up for motherhood? my coffee, scrapbooking, computer time or tv time

What did you give up for motherhood? a cute wardrobe

What’s the biggest mom perk? people hold doors for you more often now, can watch kid movies even after they leave the room

Do you sneak snacks from the kids? oh yeah… I love sweets and snacks. Most of the halloween candy was eaten by moi

What do you do when the kids nap? Get on the computer, clean up around the house, watch tv

Where are the kids now? J is napping and L is watching Bringing Home Baby

Where is your favorite place to buy maternity clothes? It was Old Navy and Motherhood Maternity

If you could do it over, what would you change? Nothing, the only thing is, if we had a house a year ago I might be pregnant now… but I don’t want to be pregnant and we don’t have a house. So there you go.

I don’t have very many blogging friends yet but if you want to borrow the meme go for it. Enjoy.

I’ve had the wind knocked out of me

First Steps came today and they are going to request that J receive services for Aspergers Syndrome. I don’t know much about Aspergers except that I have heard it’s a high functioning autistic child.

Oh boy!!! That’s difficult to say. Bring out the labels. You never want your child to have labels. You want your child to be a normal toddler. Whatever normal is… but since Ihave found out that he might have a social delay I have been way more patient with him. That’s a good thing. I am not sure what else to say. I have to let it all just sink in for a while.

Thank you notes

Thank you notes are all that seem to be on my mind. I need to make them, write them and send them. I cannot believe I am so behind in doing this. It’s not like me. This cold isn’t helping either. I have no energy. I’ll pop a DayQuil and hopefully that will give me an ooomph that I need.

I’ll type more later. Tonight is L’s parent teacher conference. I am sure I will have something to say afterward. Till then…
