Engagement Session

My first ever engagement session, my first ever photograph session. It went well. It helped that these two ladies were there helping me…

My boss Holly or codename: Lucy

You can find here here. She is currently booking for October/November.

My best friend S

You can find her here. She is booking mini sessions right now.

Thank god for them, they really helped me get some good shots. About 30/35 out of of 280. Yeah, I’m still learning. Who do you ask were we taking pictures of??? Why Nathan (my brother) and his fiancee Carrie. Gasp, their real names. We’ll live. Here are a few favorites of mine, taken by me.

Oh I just too many favorites… you should just watch the slideshow. It has all of the good ones I shot that day I had so much fun and can’t wait to learn more and shoot more people. I know it was stressful on them but these turned out really good and it was well worth the sweat and tears. I guess maybe I should say I will take anything I can get. I need the practice. 🙂

My friend S took this picture… here’s the new hair (I’m working on the styling)

Oh and these two were there…. you know them. They had to get in on the jumping action. Pic taken by moi.

Just not much I want to say lately

Been very busy, so you would think I would have a lot to talk about and I do, just not in the mood yet. I am sure once things calm down next week my bloggy mood will improve. I have been working with Holly some and having a blast. I went yesterday and helped her with a photoshoot with a young, hip guy down in Lafayette Square. It was amazing, walking around and searching for perfect picture spots. I cannot wait to see some of the pictures. Of course on Saturday was the Harrison’s Hope charity golf tournament and it went great. We had a BLAST. I drove the golf cart around so she could take photos of the golfers. I know we ticked off a few of the “serious” golfers with my cart driving but who cares. At one hole we had snagged a golf ball so we took the golf ball and placed it in the hole and were shooting pictures, well these golfers were waiting up at the top of the hill (impatiently I might add) screaming fore until finally I caught on, we waved sorry but men don’t seem to care what you have to say when they are playing golf. Just get out da way. It was great day with a few hiccups (some blood, mud and grease) but who’s counting.

Tomorrow I am meeting with my friend S, she’s going to teach me a few things in Photoshop, then shopping with my brother’s fiancee and finally a haircut. I am getting it all cutoff. Similar to Sharon Stone’s cut. Very excited.

Oh and tonight was my last digital photography class. I am now officially on my own and the good news… it’s finally all starting to make sense. Yeah for me. Plus I have two very good teachers in S and Holly. Watch out world here I come.

I’m A Star

My friend SK just started her photography blog and she put me and the kids on the header. I am blushing and so humbled. Thank you SK. Check out her blog here:

So much to do

I have so much to blog about, we have done so many cool things this summer. Just not in the mood, I have three drafts saved of fun stuff we’ve done. Got get them up.

I need to get cracking on J’s birthday invites.

My scrapbooking has taken a backseat (you don’t even want to see my desk).

Produce Co-op is kicking my butt right now. So many e-mails and such little time.

Book Club tonight and haven’t finished the book.

Put away the laundry so I have something to wear tomorrow when I….

…wake up at 4:30 am tomorrow to meet Holly at the mall at 5:30 so that we can arrive at the golf course by 6:30 am. It’s for a great cause though, Harrison’s Hope. A charity that is keeping kids safe around or in cars. I am very excited to be going, no matter the time.

So that is a lot to do or to accomplish and here I sit. on the couch. cruising around the internet. I’m getting up now.

Caught Up

Finally I am caught up on my picture blog. I keep getting behind. Check it out My Coolpix. I leave you with this awesome YouTube video that is hitting the internet like wildfire. I saw it on Jodified and had to share… In honor of my brother and C getting married. I’m such a sap, it totally made me tear up.

Favorite Commercial

This is my favorite commercial, I could watch it again and again.

It’s been on TV for a while but I just am now getting around to learning about who sings “Let Your Love Flow” in the commercial cause I love her voice. Her name is Petra Haden and the song is available for free download here: Just thought I would share in case some else loves it as much as I do.

Updated Blogroll

You can always tell what I am into at the moment by looking at my blogroll. At the beginning of spring I was interested in projects to do with the kids this summer and sewing cute little dresses for L. Here we are mid-summer and all I can think about is photography. Eat, sleep, learn, read photography. I think of poses I want to try on my brother and his fiancee when I take their engagement photos next week, I am already thinking of christmas card photo ideas, it’s endless really.

So with all that photography floating in my head I decided to update my blogroll and include some of the photography websites/blogs that I frequent often. Unlike many of you, I use my blog to check on my favorite blogs. I don’t use google reader or any other reader just the links on my blogroll. It’s easier for me.

Anyway on all those photography blogs there is one thing in common, happiness. They are all taking pictures of people who are happy, it almost gives you goose bumps. You have new babies, happy toddlers, weddings and engagements everywhere you look. So much inspiration. Sigh. Now if I could only figure out what’s wrong with my pc so I can start showing off some of my own pictures, I’m working on it.

Still here.

Several people are trying to get a hold of me and I haven’t even looked at my e-mail in the last two days. I was behind on planning my book club for Friday but I finally got that taken care of and now I have to get caught back up on the produce co-op. I was off enjoying my children today. We were at Six Flags and I didn’t check my e-mail once from 10:00 to 5:00. Tomorrow I am staying home to get “caught up”.

I Heart Faces – Feet Week

This week’s I Heart Faces theme is Feet and this was the first picture I thought of instantly.

It was one of the first really hot days here in June. I decided to take the kids out for some sprinkler fun and with my camera was able to catch this awesome picture (well my opinion anyway).

Do you have a minute?

I would love to tell you about my weekend and my day today.

Saturday our good friends from Kansas City came to the Lou for a visit. They have two girls, one is 8 and one is 3. We met them at their hotel in Westport and had dinner at Ozzie’s. The food was awful and the service was terrible and they charged us gratuity for a party of 8 even though only 7 of us ate. But the conversation and company more than made up for the meal. We didn’t get home that night till 11:00 pm. The kids had so much fun playing with their girls we had a hard time pulling them home.

Sunday we woke up and met them at the zoo, we had beautiful weather and the crowds held off. The zoo was great we actually got to see the Sea Lion show and saw what we wanted to see in an hour and a half. As we were leaving the sun came out, it grew warmer and the zoo became awkwardly crowded. Meaning… too… many… people. Wanna see me run and scream from an establishment? Invite 500 of your closest friends into one small area, then wait… it won’t take long.

Our friends from K.C.

Our friends from K.C.

Last night we dropped our kiddos off with my lovely mother. JT and I have a tradition. We attend a Harry Potter movie as soon as it comes out, just him and I. We always see the movies in the same place, we love seeing them at the Moolah Shrine Theater. They have couches and alcohol. Who could ask for anything more?! Last night the movie was so crowded that we had to sit in the balcony but it didn’t matter we still enjoyed ourselves. I liked the movie but it wasn’t very true to the book, which was a little disappointing. I was supposed to go tonight again with my mom but she wasn’t up for it. I wouldn’t mind seeing it again.

Today we had to wake up pretty early, I got JT to the metrolink station and then quickly went to get L from my mom’s, gave J a kiss (he stayed with my mom today) and headed out. I then drove L to meet my dad’s wife so L could go horse back riding and swimming. After I dropped her off with Nana I headed to meet my new boss. She is AWESOME and I loved talking/chatting with her. We talked about everything and I loved learning all about her and her business. Around 12:30 I left Holly and called Nana, she said that she wanted to keep L for a couple more hours so I went and picked up J and spent some time with my mom and had a nice lunch. We came home for exactly 45 minutes, which in that time I fixed L’s carseat and checked my e-mail. I then went to Sunset Hills to meet my dad and pick up L, when I picked up L she was pissed off. She did not want to come home with me, she had that much fun. We were off again, I dropped the kids off at my mom’s because she wanted to hear all about L’s day and I ran to pick up JT, we headed back to my mom’s picked the kids up and came home to have dinner.

I’m exhausted. Really. But I wouldn’t change anything that happened today. I had a fantastic meeting, L had a super busy, fun day and J got to spend some quality time with his GeGe. It was the perfect weekend with a perfect Monday. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold and rainy and who knows what the day will bring. Sorry if I blabbered on and on, it’s all for posterity sake.
