Another Fantastic Day for L

L had another great day with her GeGe. She attended her second class at the Missouri Botanical Garden. It was a tour of Henry Shaw’s Garden and then she was able to plant her own garden. To her garden she added a pond. Gee I wonder why? Could it be because GeGe has a pond now. She is too cute she tells me she needs her own fish for her pond. We’ll see what I can come up with, maybe a button shaped like a fish would be cute. Anyway, here is a picture of L with her project today.

Sorry it’s a little blurry.

She was so proud of her garden that she wanted to purchase some more colorful rocks (we were able to buy them in the garden’s store (which I love by the way). The sign in there says Pond L. I am very proud of her myself.

While L and my mom were in their class my grandmother, J and I took the garden’s tram ride, which in the several years I have lived here and been going to the garden (at least 20 times a summer) I have never done. It was very nice. This morning was cool and overcast and we learned a little about the garden without having to walk around the entire thing (which can take hours) the ride only took 30 minutes.

Here are some of my favorite garden spots:

The Japanese Garden. I love the koi fish, the water that surrounds the islands of sand and trees, the waterfalls and streams, cherry blossoms and the raked to perfection gravel gardens. JT and I originally wanted to marry there but they never had a date that was appropriate for us and our schedules.

The English Woodland Garden is definitely one of my favorites. It’s covered under a canopy of trees and has these winding paths that you can take all over the woodland garden. You’ll find waterfalls and streams and beautiful trees. Perfect for picture taking.

And check out these trees.

I love this tree. To me it would be the perfect place for a clubhouse. You could play underneath there and dream the days away. I would have loved a play area like that.

Look at that branch isn’t it beckoning for someone to come and sit down. Or hang a swing from me. I would love a tree like that too. Most of the trees at the garden have lightning rods circled around them so they aren’t split in half. Isn’t that genious. I never would have thought of that.

Sorry I was little infatuated with the trees today. I couldn’t help it, it was a beautiful day and I was resting on the train. I was actually able to look up for a change.

Okay that’s enough garden talk.

No unfortunately no updates on the family I am talking of course about my reality TV crushes.

The Next Food Network Show: Who is going to win? I can’t pick just one. I want Lisa to win but I am not sure she will because then I have grown to love the other two just as much. I have to wait a whole week to find out.

Design Star: Wow I totally picked Matt Locke to win the whole shebang. We shall see. I should have bet my husband a shopping spree or something as fabulous.

Well you know where I will be next Sunday night. Oh did I mention that Big Brother 10 started and I really like this one. It’s a normal one. No twists or turns. Just Big Brother as it should be. I am also psyched because Monk started again along with… well Psych. Then the most anticipated reality show by myself and my hubby would be Project Runway 5 and that my friends has started too. Lord help me, thank you for our DVRs. Can they burn out from use?

A lovely “ouch” weekend

We had a wonderfully busy weekend. My dad turns 60 today so this last Saturday we went to his house for a little birthday celebration. We purchased a triple slip n slide, because he has a great hill for some slippin and some slidin. Anyway, there were just a couple of minor problems… such as #1 the “slide” looked a lot longer on the box. We opened it up and it was pathetic really and #2 at the age of 32 if you don’t work out on a regular basis and then try to take on the slip n slide like your 20 you are going to be sore for several days after. My stomach muscles hurt, my calf muscles hurt, my neck is killing me and so on and so forth. I can’t even get myself out of bed because the muscles in my stomach are BURNING!!! I am sure you all want to see some pictures, so here you go… (oh and young uncle na went once, yeah that’s all)

just so you know JT is hurting too, just not as bad as me. I must have tensed up during my slidin. I would close my eyes right before I got to the end of my run, the reason I have absolutely no idea. JT and I would be going so fast that we would end up at least 3 or 4 feet past the slide. We had so much fun as a family but we are definitely paying for it.

We moved to pool which was delightful, the water was warm and the kids were behaved. It was so relaxing. My brother took this picture of us. Look for it soon on my banner 😉

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!! We had so much fun this weekend in fact we all have a weekend hangover.

Ah, the days of my youth

If you read my blog often enough or if you just know me, you know that my favorite place to be is a bookstore with a cup of coffee, walking around and just breathing in all that new undiscovered book smell. So today we were off to the bookstore (my favorite being Borders). I was in search of one of the books on my list. Remember my library story… where I’m #17 and #38. I’m impatient I can’t wait that long. Stick with me here I am getting to my point.

I really wanted sTORI telling by Tori Spelling (don’t judge me I enjoy some good celebrity gossip + I love her reality show) but they didn’t have a copy (on-line they do and it’s 30% off). Apparently they can’t keep them on the shelves, I asked the guy when they were coming in he said he hasn’t seen any in weeks. SUPER!!! Everywhere I go there’s a wait. Waiting is not what I do, at least not well. So I went to book #2 on my list, Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella. She is definitely one of my favorite authors. She’s up there with Nicholas Sparks and Anita Shreve. I really hope it’s a good book, I hate spending money on books and then I completely hate them or can’t get into them, so fingers crossed.

Anyway the whole Tori Spelling part of my story got me thinking tonight (here’s my point), how many of you out there watch Tori’s reality show on Oxygen? Did you watch 90210? I most certainly did. But I wasn’t a Donna fan. I was always into Kelly and Dylan. Who were you into? Did you know that they are making a remake of 90210? Will you watch it, it’s on the CW? I think I might sit this one out. It’s look all weird, the song is the only thing that’s the same and did I mention it’s on the CW (isn’t that channel for pre-teens and teens only?). I like Tori’s show because it’s real and she’s just as neurotic as the rest of us just with a little more cash in the back (not as much as her mom) but definitely more than I have. I know this is a lot of questions but I was just curious. Here’s a video someone did on YouTube of how they looked then vs. now.

Is it just me or did Brian Austin Green become a hottie with age?

The long awaited transformation!!

Here are some pictures of my mom’s pond…

The beautiful waterfall (which the kids love to stand in)

Here are the kids looking for their fish… Lello (yellow) for J and Cloudy for L

Some evening shots… (those cranes are fountains, very cool)

As a family we are in love with this pond. We can’t wait to go back tonight. The kids even had me buy food to give to GeGe for her new fish.

If you live in St. Louis and need a pond done you should contact Best of Nature Water Garden Center they have the best construction and selling teams.

I’m beat!!

That’s right I am downright beat and I didn’t even lift one 60 lb boulder. I left all that heavy lifting to the guys my mom works with. 3 days of St. Louis heat, 3 days of J having no nap, running out of diapers AND wipes (J was in a swim diaper and had diarrhea, yeah that was fun), an entire container of Nesquik spilled all over the floor, swimming, an entire spray bottle of sunscreen, red punch spilled on my mom’s carpet, a puking incident in my car, over 900 pictures (yeah that’s not a typo, really over 900) and 6 new fish… Ladies and Gentleman we finally have a POND!!!

I will post pictures tomorrow, we didn’t get home until 10:15 pm tonight and I am beat (wait did I already say that) I’m off to bed. I have to get my blogging oh and my house back up and running. See ya tomorrow.

Wordless Wednesday – 4 Going on 14

She looks so grown up in this picture. She’s getting big so fast, I’ll save the emotion for another day.

Check out more WW.

Out and About

I am out and about!!! My mom is getting her new pond so I wasn’t around today and I probably won’t be around tomorrow. It really depends on how J does without a nap. I am taking pictures for her so she can create a before and after cd plus I am going to make a scrapbook for her. So, I will be back but probably not until Thursday. See ya soon!!!

Do you live in a great place? came out with their 100 Best Places to Live in 2008. I love reading this list, I guess because I am seeking a new place to call home. Ever wondered if your city is on the list. Now you can see for yourself. St. Louis didn’t make it but St. Peters, MO did at #60 (it’s about 30 miles from here).

Trendy Tadpole

Trendy? Definitely. Witty? Hysterical. Fun? A blast. Trendy Tadpole is the “coolest” place around to get your baby or toddler a funny/witty/humorous t-shirt. How can you lose with t-shirts that say things like:

The company itself stands for so much more than just a great t-shirt made in the USA. Here’s a quote from the website made by the owner Julie:

“Trendy Tadpole and it’s owner, me (Julie Pruitt), are a work in progress.   I am bringing pop culture, a hint of nostalgia, and a pinch of fun to the table in every tee shirt.”

Plus she donates 50% of Trendy Tadpole’s profits to charity. The charities she supports are the Humane Society, UNICEF and even PETA. She has a special shirt/onesie designed for just PETA donations.

The designs are awesome. I assure you, you won’t love just ONE!!! The ones pictured above were my favorites but I ended up choosing a totally different one for J. There are so many to choose from. I have gotten so many compliments on this shirt. Here’s a pic:

The shirt reads “AB CD For those about to read we salute you”. Picture fits doesn’t it, LOL.

Now on to the fun stuff!!! TODAY there is 30% off. Hurry up go shop. Save a little money and buy one of these really cool shirts for your baby or toddler. The shirts are 100% cotton so they will shrink so ALWAYS order up one or even two sizes. I ordered up one size for J and I was not disappointed, it’s nice and long so he will be able to wear it for a while. These shirts are super soft, they come in either short sleeve or long sleeve, onesie, t-shirt and some come in different colors. The sizes run from infant (3-6 mos) to Women’s sizes (M, L, XL, 2XL), everyone in the family should own one (I’m thinking possible Christmas photos). Julie also gives us some info on her website for washing/shipping and sizing in the product info section.

It’s a super friendly website with a super friendly owner. We are so enamored with these shirts that I am remembering them for gifts and I’ve started a wishlist for myself ;-). Check it out! You won’t be dissapointed.
